Terminal Velocity Background

tvplanet.jpg (185411 bytes)

In preparing this news update, I was looking through some old graphics on my HD for an image I needed, and I found this picture. It was from the development cycle of Terminal Velocity, the first 3D Realms title ever released (back in the Spring of 1995). Anyway, I saw this picture, and thought it would make an awesome Windows background, and it does! A small thumbnail of the shot is shown here, but if you're interested in making this your Windows background, here's how you can do it:

1. First, click on the thumbnail shown here - it will load a much larger picture in another window.

2.Right click on that picture

3.Select the text "Set as Wallpaper"

That's it! Hope you enjoy this file.

Books!

We wanted to point out that we have several books available for sale through our web site (well, they're actually from Amazon.com) about our games.

* First off, we wanted to point out that the two original Shadow Warrior Novels, For Dead
Eyes Only
& You Only Die Twice are still available. If you haven't read these books, and you're a Shadow Warrior fan, you should check them out! In fact, we have the full text of the first chapter of For Dead Eyes Only available for you to read online! You can also read several reviews of each book written by people who have read them (or add your own if you wish).
* We also have several book links for titles about Duke Nukem! From strategy guides, to help with editing your own levels, to Internet help, we have something that you can use if you play Duke Nukem (either on the PC or the console games)!
* There's also links to older games like Terminal Velocity & Rise of the Triad, too!

If you want to see the complete list of books we have available, check out our Books page today!

Terminal Velocity Wins 1995 Editor's Choice Award

PC Entertainment magazine (formally Electronic Entertainment), published its "Third Annual Editor's Choice Awards" in the January 1996 issue.

Terminal Velocity blasted to the top by winning the category of "Best Action Game." This very competitive category was especially hot this year. Terminal Velocity, in winning this year's honors, soared past games like Heretic, Descent, Rise of the Triad, Hexen, and Mortal Kombat III.

The editors said: "With fluid, texture-mapped terrain, 360-degree movement, and simple controls, Terminal Velocity is the ultimate airborne shooter. No other action game--with the possible exception of Descent--captures the feeling of flight as well."

Terminal Velocity is the first game of its type, and is likely to spawn clones in the future. But it's going to be tough to top Terminal Velocity's "...nonstop action, awesome explosions, and cool graphics and sounds," said the editors of PC Magazine.

Please give Terminal Velocity a try. It's 1995's best action game.
