Gathering of Developers to Publish Hunting Title Duke Nukem Style

Rogue animal man-killers are suddenly attacking without provocation, eating their way to the top of the food chain. But one hunter stands in their way! "Hail to the King, baby," boasts Duke Nukem. "The food chain stops at the end of my boomstick." And so begins the blending of two of the most popular computer game genres in recent years: simulation hunting games and first-person shooters.

Developer-driven computer and video game publisher Gathering of Developers, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), and game developers 3D Realms and Action Forms Ltd., today announced more details on Duke Nukem: Endangered Species. The title is a hybrid game that takes elements of a classic PC hunting game and mixes them with breakneck action and the bawdy attitude Duke Nukem fans love. Gamers will travel through vast landscapes including jungles, streams, valleys, and mountains while hunting a wide variety of animals. Published by Gathering of Developers, and distributed by Jack of All Games, another Take-Two company, Duke Nukem: Endangered Species will ship nationwide this summer.

The Rogue Animals
As Duke Nukem, players will hunt a wide variety of animals in numerous missions that span the globe. True hunting skills and smart use of equipment are required to track down the animals and survive. Each mission will present new hunting challenges, from common prey such as sharks, alligators, lions, gorillas and polar bears, to more unique game like werewolves, bigfoot and rampaging T-Rexs. The prey will exhibit realistic instincts such as anger, fear, hunger and pain, and will use sight, sound and smell to avoid Duke's rampage.

The Gear
Duke packs an arsenal with more than ten weapons, including hunting and sniper rifles, shotguns, crossbows, machine guns, and pistols. Duke Nukem: Endangered Species also offers several of Duke's past favorites, like the shrink ray, freeze ray and rocket-propelled grenade, with weapons supporting a secondary, more potent firing feature.

In addition to firepower, Duke will also utilize a more typical inventory of hunting gear including a scent masker, camouflage, weapon sound suppressors, animal calls and scent attractors. Duke's famous sunglasses will feature a heads-up display (HUD) to analyze local terrain layout, GPS information, and animal targeting information. They will also serve as an optics system with thermal and night vision, as well as feature an optical zoom and motion detection radar. Additionally, players can request re-supply airdrops, access mission logs and information, and consult compass and wind direction.

Duke's Ego
Duke's voice and personality will remain intact in Duke Nukem: Endangered Species. Players can expect the witty remarks and colorful banter that have become synonymous with the Duke name. However, Duke's ego will not be just for laughs this time around. Everything that Duke does will have an impact on his ego. Success at putting down hostile animals will feed his ego as well as his weapons and equipment supply. Negative actions, like shooting non-threats or requesting too many supply drops, will adversely affect his ego, as well as the availability of weapons and equipment Duke can use.
