The winning
entry was submitted by Michael
Gough. It was:
Hi
my name is John, I want to tell about this groundbreaking new game
we're developing over at.... what? Ya my girlfriend is pretty hot.
But, let me tell you about this new.... Yes, she does have nice
breasts. But, again let me tell you.... Ya, she did pose naked in a
magazine. But this new game is radically.... YES! What?
Some
of the others (in no particular order):
- "[Insert generic Daikatana joke here]" (Eskil
Lauritsen)
- Milli or Vanilli? I can never remember
which one is which. (Josh Wagenbach)
- Hi and welcome to Club E3. Is your name on
the guest list. (Don Stephens)
- Somewhat chagrined, John promised to
pickup his standard-issue computer developer goatee as soon as possible.
(Steve Mullen)
- I was this close to getting the Conan the
Barbarian role. (Gregory Marnayek)
- Everyone is quite happy as Steve and John
come up with the latest Japanese pr0n movies. (Heinz-Joachim Hombach)
- John Romero kindly offers Steve Blackburn
some of his hair. (Steven Trinkl)
- "Miller to Romero: We should stop meeting
like this, people will think we are working together at delaying our
games. [Nervous laughter all around]." (Eskil Laurensen)
- John in his Broadway debut sings "I'm
Super!"
I'm super, thanks for asking!
All things considered, I couldn't be better I must say!
I'm feeling super, no nothing bugs me!
Everything is super when you're...
Don't you think I look cute in this belt!? (Stephen C Correia)
In reality, this is
(L-R): Scott Miller, Steve Blackburn, John
Romero (then of Ion Storm), & Chris Reinhart of Humanhead Studios at
E3 2001.
NOTE: Chris Reinhart now holds the record for appearing in
the camera captioning contest and not having a single entry about him
sent in. 90% of the entries were about Romero and/or Daikatana.
Decided the Daikatana thing was too easy, and just went with the one
that appears above.
