Contest #153: July 26th to August 15th, 2002

The winning entry was submitted by Audel Ross Almazan. It was:

Plastic lei: $2. E3 event pass: $200. Used adult newspaper possibly snagged from an alleyway dumpster in Los Angeles: Priceless. There are some things people won't touch. For everything else, there's Keith and Charlie.

Some of the others (in no particular order):

  1. Ahem. I believe this picture speaks for itself. (Steven Trinkl)
  2. For many people, looking through such material would be considered perverted. At 3D Realms, it's considered job recruitment. (Cameron Orr)
  3. Charlie: "Wow, Natalie Portman scratching her ass! Now that's news." (Gautam Menon)
  4. A split-second later, the photographer whipped the magazine cover away, revealing the true focus of Keith and Charlie's attention: "Level Design for Dummies." (Andrew Kepple)
  5. "Hey Charlie, look at this! It says 'chewing on plastic toys may cause erectile dysfunction.'" (James ???)
  6. Although they really enjoyed their jobs at 3DR, Charlie and Keith couldn't resist checking the want ads for more..... "interesting" job opportunities. (Chris Lauer)
  7. The true essence of L.A. (Vince Batchelor)
  8. Charlie, having gotten a toy stuck firmly between his teeth, looks on anxiously as Keith scans the paper for an all night dentist that can do emergency toy extractions. (Frank Paniz)
  9. Suddenly, "Thing" from the Addams Family appeared, feeling strangely aroused! (Don Chin)
  10. Define "irony": Two, grown up men, working in a multi-million dollar industry, are preoccupied not by a convention filled with hundreds of new games and technologies, but by a single, explicit newspaper.  (Audel Ross Almazan)

In reality, this is Keith Schuler (L) & Charlie Wiederhold (R) examining a newspaper while in Los Angeles for an E3 show.
